Are you saying that you lost your game sound as well as mic for chat - Both? If it is just that you can not talk with your mic - try pushing "V 1 1 and than find your name and select that number" than see if it works. Also make sure you binded key for chat is still as you have set it in the settings/input/configure controls section of your ut2004 game. Also does the sound work without your headset?

keys are still bound to default settings F to activate P to talk
regular speakers work fine
but no sound or talk from head set only on unreal works fine on other programs
and what is V11

V11 is the command to open up the speech commands ingame! It appears to me that you will probably need a new headset.

So you are saying:
1) Audio from headset does not work in Unreal
2) Mic in headset does not work in Unreal
3) Audio from headset works in all other programs
4) Mic works in all other programs

Is this correct?

For the Audio problem have you check the Audio settings within Unreal?

With the headset plugged into the computer do this -
From the main menu (when Unreal first starts) there is a "Settings" selection. Choose that.
Within the next window, on the top there are several tabs select the Audio tab.

Within this window I think that there are check boxes to enable or disable music and audio. You'll have to look for this because I am writing
this at work from memory. Make sure that those are Ticked.

Next, there are volume slider bars for Music and Audio at the very top of this Audio window. If they are at the far left than you are at Zero volume level.
Move those to the right so that they are set at 50%. As you slide the bars I believe that you will hear the volume increase and either music or the announcer voice,
depending on which bar, as you slide it - if the headset is working.

I believe that is all the settings there are for Audio. If this does not resolve the problem than you may have to look at the Windows settings.

I won't troubleshoot the Mic yet until you get the Audio working.

Yes that is correct
volume on music is at 50% was at 25% volume on voice is 50% was at 100%
all boxes checked still not working
Also I just noticed in line volume control on headset controls external speakers is that normal

To answer your question about "in-line" volume control affecting speakers:

Are you saying that - there is a physical volume adjustment on the physical cable of the headset and that this affects the speaker volume?

If so - I have never heard of this. As far as I know this should only control the output to the headset.

Your Unreal settings all look good.

I don't recall if there is one - But perhaps there is a MUTE setting Enabled somewhere in one of the INI files.

Anyone? (still at work).

Also - If you unplug the headset from the computer - Does the Audio (voice and music) play through the speakers OK?

One other thing - You are running Windows XP...correct? If not than let us know which Operating System you are running.

Try leaving the default channel blank, instead of your name!
